SPECIALIZED RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

  Lapeer County Community Mental Health contracts with specialized adult foster care providers to provide specialized residential (foster care) services to eligible adults, (mentally ill and developmentally disabled).  Specialized providers receive additional training and supervision to become certified to provide services in addition to room, board and supervision.

Personal care services may be provided in a specialized foster care home.  This is care that assists an individual perform personal daily living activities such as eating, toileting, bathing, grooming, ambulation and transferring.  Personal care may also include dispensing medications.

Community Living Supports may be provided in a specialized residential setting.

Coverage includes:

  • Assisting, reminding, observing, guiding and /or training - meal preparation, laundry, household care and maintenance, ADLs, (advanced daily living skills), and shopping for food and other ADL necessities.

  • Staff assistance, support and /or training with - money management, non-medical care, socialization, transportation to community activities, participation in community activities, and attendance at medical appointments.

  • Reminding, observing, and/or monitoring medication administration.

  • Staff assistance with preserving health and safety.

Specialized residential services are monitored by Lapeer County CMH case managers and supports coordinators.
