SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

Lapeer County Community Mental Health Center is part of the Supported Employment Alliance (SEA). The Alliance is comprised of four local organizations (Lapeer CMH, Lapeer Intermediate School District, Michigan Department of Career Development, and Lapeer Teamwork). This group is dedicated to helping persons with developmental and mental disabilities secure employment opportunities in the community. While the long-range goal is community placement, there are several interim services that are offered to consumers. Services can include vocational training, job readiness training, job try-outs, and job shadowing. After placement occurs, the Alliance is available to provide job coaching and follow-along services to consumers. Our objective is to help eligible consumers, who want to go to work, do just that. We try to provide guidance and encouragement through every phase of the process. Currently, we work with a variety of Lapeer County employers, but we are always pleased to add new employers to the list. We are involved in a very worthwhile venture, but we need area businesses to partner with us before we can succeed.
