Property Foreclosure Timeline for Tax Year 2005:

  • March 1, 2006- Unpaid 2005 property taxes were forwarded as delinquent to the County Treasurer. 4% administration fee and 1% per month interest was added.

  • October 1, 2006 - $15 fee was added to each unpaid parcel.

  • March 1, 2007- Property was forfeited to County Treasurer. The following fees were added:
    • $175 title search fee
    • $10 recording fee for forfeiture certificate
    • $10 recording fee for redemption certificate
    • Interest increased from 1% per month to 1.5 % per month retroactive to date the taxes became delinquent. (net result: 7.5% interest is added)
    • Additional interest, recording and service fees will accumulate throughout the succeeding year, including, but limited to, the fees listed below.

  • October 2007 -- Properties will be visited and posted with Circuit Court hearing notice. A fee of $20 will be added on October 1, 2007.

  • November 2007-- Certified notice of foreclosure hearing will be mailed to all owners of interest. A fee of approximately $6.50 per notice will be added to each parcel. Because of legal requirements that spouses each receive a separate notice, parcels average 2-5 notices each ($13-$35 fee will be added November 1, 2007.)

  • December 2007 -- Property addresses, legal descriptions, and the names of all persons having an interest in any delinquent properties will be published in The County Press or LAView. A fee of $60 will be added December 1, 2007.
  • February 2008 -- Circuit court hearing is held. Court will enter a judgement of foreclosure.
  • April 1, 2008 -- On this date, clear title to the property passes to the county. YOU CANNOT GET IT BACK!
  • Summer 2008 -- property is sold at public auction.
